MegaCare Chitosan is used to bind fat materials for more efficient elimination from the body.
Chitosan is made from chitin, extracted from shrimp, lobster, crabs and crayfish. Chitin is also used in wound healing and for water purification because of its ability to absorb impurities in the water.
Chitosan, a well-known fat blocker, prevents the absorption of fat through the intestinal wall. Chitosan accomplishes this by keeping the fats from becoming small enough to be absorbed. Bound fats pass through the small intestine undigested and are readily eliminated.
Modified Chitosan is claimed to absorb up to three to six times its weight in fat and oil.
Warning. Anyone with seafood allergies should not take chitosan. The absorption of fat-soluble vitamins like A, E or D may be inhibited by Chitosan. Since fatty acids are essential to the human body, MegaCare recommends periodic short use of Chitosan to reduce excess fat.
